P@SHA Chairman and member companies met in Karachi on October 30, 2015 at P@SHA headquarters to discuss issues like taxation, as well as the overall representation of IT companies and the the contribution of the sector in overall GDP. Chairman P@SHA, Syed Ahmad met with the Finance Minister Mr. Ishaq Dar earlier this month, and said that the only way the services sector, which provides a 58% GDP contribution, can effectively negotiate terms with the government is to organize itself more effectively under one banner. The IT sector needs to differentiate itself from the rest of the services industry.
According to Syed Ahmad, the IT industry has witnessed phenomenal growth over the past years, the official figures (believed to be conservative) show a 25-27% CAGR over the decade. SECP has reported that last year of all new companies registered, 10% were IT companies. The Ministry of ITT is supportive and wants to implement a favourable tax regime.
The government’s vision 2025 states that it believes in strengthening trade associations, they know the associations can provide better solutions for sustainable growth.
