Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT & ITES (P@SHA) held its iconic LaunchPad 2013 events in June. The events were held in the three metropolis of Pakistan – in Lahore on June 25 at LUMS, in Islamabad on June 27 at CASE, and in Karachi on June 29 at Sheraton Hotel and Towers. The National ICT R&D Fund was a contributing sponsor for the P@SHA LaunchPad 2013.
P@SHA LaunchPad serves as a remarkable platform to discover the best technology ideas and startups within Pakistan. It provides the budding resources the opportunity to pitch their ideas in front of Pakistan IT industry’s most experienced and influential personalities/entrepreneurs and angel investors.
P@SHA received an overwhelming response with a total of 165 entries from participants across all the three cities within a week’s time. In each city there were three winners 1) Best Startup 2) Best Innovative Idea and 3) Best Social Innovation Idea/Product. The winners each received a cash award of Rs. 200,000.
P@SHA will also provide one of the winners from the Karachi LaunchPad a brilliant opportunity to connect with Dot-Zero, a community and co-working space to start its operations in Karachi this year. Dot-Zero is one of the grantees of the P@SHA Social Innovation Fund and will incubate some of the winners from various P@SHA programs who require a working space.
P@SHA LaunchPad 2013 series undoubtedly turned out to be quite inspirational for many as the observers and judges got the chance to see some amazing innovative ideas from the three cities presented by the aspiring, young entrepreneurs from within Pakistan. It was a good learning experience for the participants who received great mentoring & new direction from the judges to improve on their ideas/products and provided an opportunity to connect and network with the experienced personalities of the ICT industry.
P@SHA is extremely grateful to LUMS and CASE for providing us space to organize the LaunchPad Lahore and Islamabad events successfully and the National ICT R&D Fund for supporting the initiative. The enthusiasm of participants from the three cities and the dedication of every single one of the judges made these events both useful and memorable.
After receiving numerous requests, P@SHA is now considering organizing a LaunchPad event in Peshawar after Ramzan, the details of which will be announced on our website in the near future.
