The Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT & ITES (P@SHA) called a press conference on Thursday, December 19, 2013 to make key announcements regarding P@SHA and its achievements in the year 2013.
The conference was presided by the newly elected P@SHA Chairman, Salim Ghauri (CEO, NetSol Technologies), President P@SHA, Jehan Ara as well as the new P@SHA Central Executive Committee (CEC) members – Sadia Khan (COO, Autosoft Dynamics), Abdul Aziz (CEO, Lumsensoft Technologies) and Monis Rahman (CEO, Naseeb Networks).
Speaking on the occasion, Salim Ghauri officially announced that Pakistan will be hosting the prestigious Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards in 2014 for the very first time. He acknowledged the efforts of the former Chairman and CEC members in winning the bid for Pakistan to host the event.
APICTA is an international Awards Program which aims to increase ICT awareness in the community and assist in bridging the digital divide. By providing networking and product benchmarking opportunities to ICT innovators and entrepreneurs in the region, the Program is designed to stimulate ICT innovation and creativity, promote economic and trade relations, facilitate technology transfer, and offer business matching opportunities via exposure to venture capitalists and investors.
Hosting APICTA 2014 in Pakistan would be a colossal achievement not only for the IT industry but for Pakistan as a country. Hundreds of delegates from 17 economies would be participating in the event. It would be a wonderful opportunity for Pakistan to outshine and leave a positive mark on the international community by highlighting our tech industry as well as the general business environment.
Salim Ghauri said, “It is the biggest achievement for P@SHA to have Pakistan as the venue for APICTA 2014 awards. I am confident we will make it a memorable event.”
A key part of the press conference was devoted to the four Silver Winners of APICTA 2013 from Pakistan. APICTA 2013 was held in Hong Kong from November 24-27, 2013. Pakistan received the runners up award in four out of the seventeen APICTA categories. A total of 220 software products from the Asia Pacific region competed in this year’s awards.
Arbisoft won a Silver in the E-Learning category for ‘Scoop Excavator’; CureMD won a Silver award in the E-Health category for ‘SmartCloud’; EME (NUST)/CARE won a Silver in the Research and Development category for ‘i-Hospital’ and Eyedeus Labs picked up a Silver in the Startup category.
