P@SHA is holding a Start-up Workshop with Jawwad Farid on March 29 and April 5 in Karachi at the Karachi School of Business and Leadership (KSBL)
This entrepreneurial crash course being held on two consecutive Saturdays is designed for young entrepreneurs. The workshop focuses on the effort required to take an idea from conception to commercial reality.
As promised earlier P@SHA is arranging the two day workshops for current final year students enrolled in campuses at Universities in Karachi who are interested in exploring the startup yellow brick road.
Date: First Session March 29 & Second Session April 5
Venue: Karachi School of Business and Leadership (KSBL) National Stadium Road Opposite Liaquat National Hospital
Time: 9 am to 5pm (both March 29 & April 5)
Registration Link: http://goo.gl/v8njHB (registration is free but required for shortlisting)
The course focuses on five key elements that one needs to understand to successfully run a new business:
a) Strategic Thought
b) Product Development
By the end of this course you will be very comfortable with:
a) Understanding what creates a viable and sustainable business franchise and the reasons why some businesses fail
b) Explaining why failure is a necessary first step for becoming a successful entrepreneur
c) Analyzing the idea behind a new venture and assess its investment potential
d) Mapping the interaction between product development, strategy and pitching your ideas
e) Creating and presenting an executive summary from scratch
The course has a very heavy analysis and reading load and is not intended for the light hearted. Its audience is individuals who are serious about striking out on their own. Course assessment will be determined by the quality of your pitch and presentation, class participation, a product development exercise, a functional and viable executive summary and its presentation using YouTube and Vimeo to a remote audience of judges and peers.
Mandatory pre-requirement for registration
A one paragraph description of a business idea that you would like to explore during this workshop:
In less than 100 words describe the product idea and its potential, your first customer and the amount of capital required to launch it. Of the submitted ideas, 20 ideas will be picked by teams during the next 5 days and will form the basis of executive summaries, presentation and course grades.
The idea has to be fresh and cannot be part of your current job or role. Real Estate agencies, wedding planners, boutiques, fashion labels, restaurants, coffee shops & investment advisory firms are no longer acceptable as valid ideas.
The current course registration is limited to 20-22 students who can apply as individuals or as part of the same team. No more than two members per team will be accepted. Seats are limited and selection for the course will be based on the attractiveness, applicability, relevance and presentation of the idea.
