15% GST to be removed in next budget

The government will withdraw the 15 per cent general sales tax (GST) on computer items from the next financial year, according to a statement by Caretaker Federal Minister of Information Technology Abdullah Riar in a meeting with a delegation in Islamabad on Monday.
The Minister assured the delegation that the ministry will send the summary to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to eliminate the sales tax on computer products from the next budget.
The Minister also said that the government had been trying to attain a 50 percent usage of computers amongst the population - both urban and rural.
